Stonehenge CrossFit Charity Competition

03 May 2016

On Saturday I held my first charity fundraiser to help me reach my £3000 target in aid of The Stars Appeal (read my Inca Trek Challenge blog to find out more). I teamed up with the lovely guys at Stonehenge CrossFit in Salisbury and they hosted a friendly in-house competition.

The day started with me standing in front of a box full of people welling up and fighting to keep it together, it was so overwhelming, and I was grateful to every single person stood in front of me that were willing to give up there Saturday and donate their hard earned pennies to such a worthy cause.

The competition consisted of 3 workouts and the top four teams of the masters and individuals went on to fight it out for top spots in a 4th and final workout! The masters had 2 team members and the individual teams had 3 team members

Workout 1:

40 squat cleans @ 30/20kg

30 burpees over bar

30 squat cleans @ 40/30kg

30 burpees over bar

20 squat cleans @ 50/40kg

30 burpees over bar

This was disgusting and my legs were burning at the end of it!

Workout 2:

One team member had to row continuously for 8 minutes.

The other two had to complete maximum reps for shoulder to over head. 35kg for men and 25kg for females.

My shoulders did not thank me for this workout on Sunday!

Time for a much needed lunch break. The weather was kind to us, the children were kept amused on the bouncy castle and for a small donation we all got our first (mine anyway) BBQ of the season!

Workout 3:

1.5 mile on the air assault bike

10 rope climbs

50 deadlifts @ 90/70kg

8 rope climbs

100 hand release press ups

6 rope climbs

75 jumping squats

4 rope climbs

50 jumping pulls ups

This was my first proper time on an air assault bike, don’t recommend it if you like breathing!!

Drumroll….the results were in and my team ‘BBQ or Bust’ finished 5th, which meant we were saved from the horrendous 4th and final workout!!

Workout 4:

75 synchronised knee raises

50 ground to overhead @ 40/25kg

50 synchronised box jumps @ 20”

50 snatch @ 40/25kg

25 synchronised burpee to plate

50 thrusters @ 40/25kg

One word. Disgusting.

I want to thank Katy from Retail Toolbox for providing a generous amount of goodies towards the raffle prizes, Carl from SGF Speedropes for donating 2 x gift vouchers, and for Boundless Clothing turning up on the day who have now said they will offer military discount, WINNER!

The day was a huge success and an amazing £521.86 was raised from everyones generosity and I want to thank everyone that was involved, those that competed, supported, donated, baked, however you were involved, THANK YOU.
